We head to #Haddenham for this week’s #FocusFriday. This popular and traditional village is 20mins from Cambridge and 10mins from Ely and is ideally located for those that want to enjoy the countryside whilst also still being close to larger towns.
One way you can connect to the area is via the Bus Way Bridleway routes. You can access these via public transport in Haddenham. Making use of old railway lines, these routes are now wide tracks for bikes that run next to the adapted rail lines that offer a traffic free journey for buses.
They are closed to all traffic apart from the buses, who are on their “guided” rails over the old rail track. Whilst they were seen as controversial during the long build process, they are now highly rated by local cyclists.
A real gem in Haddenham is the Arts Centre. This really is the type of venue that you might visit in a city and then recommend to your friends. Aside from the art gallery and gift shop, you can also attend for live events, a variety of craft and creative workshops, free groups, or just enjoy the cafe with its outside terrace. So you can combine some shopping, a bit of crafting, a catch up with friends, and some entertainment all in one venue. Visit their website to check out their latest events and workshops.
I know what you’re thinking…what about pubs in #Haddenham? No problem. How about an award winning, family run pub with a wide selection of ales, ciders, home cooked food, roaring fire, and some local gins? Yes? Then The Three Kings is for you. With its origins as a 17th Century coaching inn, The Three Kings is packed with charming features such as the exposed beams, which all add to the atmosphere.

One of my recent clients had this to say about Haddenham, having moved in there in the last year:
"It has an active community with lots of interest groups at the arts centre; including local artists in residence. The local pub The Three Kings is great - that and the Cherry Tree Cafe both serve really good food. It's also handy to have so many local businesses catering to local needs with the hairdressers and butchers for example."
